Eating Disorders – Hypnotherapy can be a great help!

People who suffer from an eating disorder tend to have an unhealthy attitude towards food. Most people who suffer with an eating disorder don’t feel understood. Usually they don’t like the way they look and constantly think about weight or body shape. It is also quite common to eat in strange cycles or to eat less and less. There are different types of eating disorders but all of them can have devastating results. Eating disorders are very serious as they change the way one thinks and behaves. They affect people of all ages and backgrounds. The most common eating disorders are anorexia, bulimia and binge eating.

There are different causes for eating disorders, sometimes there is a family history, feeling pressure to stay slim, upsetting events, relationship problems, criticisms, too much pressure etc. The common denominator seems to be ‘control’. In the beginning it may feel calming to be in control of food and eating but it soon goes out of hand and the disorder takes control.

Understanding the root cause of the disorder is often the key to recovery. Working with regression is very helpful and the subconscious is usually more than willing to assist. It is preferable to work on the underlying causes and release whatever is causing the issue. However, hypnotherapy has many different tools that can be used in various ways. Positive suggestions can help change the way you see yourself and how you feel about yourself.

Hypnotherapy can be a great help in feeling good about yourself and that way develop healthy eating habits, and actually enjoy the process of eating.

Children and hypnosis

Children are often excellent subjects when using hypnosis, meaning that they respond well to hypnotherapy. I often see children or teenagers that have been to CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) who feel helpless and powerless and whose parents are looking for an alternative to help their children.
Most. problems stem from underlying emotional issues. This is not a judgement on the family, because even with the most loving background there can be areas that have an effect on a child, whether they are aware of it or not.

There are so many issues that can be helped using hypnotherapy and that way change a child’s life. Just like adults, children can easily be regressed and that way reveal the sources of their issues. Children have to deal with many changes in their lives, like moving house, bullying, or criticism. They may have a hard time making friends, handling school, fitting in. Just like adults they react to worry and stress in different ways. Children become angry, school work suffers, they become distracted, get headaches, stop eating, have stomach problems and so the list goes on. Small problems they used to have may become more pronounced. Maybe they can’t sleep or develop a sudden fear of animals, they may become frightened of going to the doctor, they may not want to leave the house etc. Parents are doing their best to help but it doesn’t change much for the child.

The process of hypnotherapy is very relaxing but at the same time releases anxiety and fear, and is a therapy that can completely change the outlook on life.

Panic Attacks

panic attacks help cure hypnosisAnybody who’s ever been so scared that they thought they might die knows what it feels like having a panic attack. It’s a dreadful feeling; ones heart will be thumping and there is great fear.

In many cases people have no idea what the cause of the attack may be. It seems to come out of the blue for no apparent reason and it is a very frightening experience. Hypnotherapy can be a great help when dealing with panic attacks and anxiety.

Mostly, though not always, a panic attacks begins with a feeling of fear or panic which is then rapidly followed by a number of physical symptoms. These can be nausea, intense sweating or palpitations. It is so terrifying that breathing often accelerates and so adding more symptoms. The attacks themselves can be short-lived but can also come and go for a much longer length of time. They are terrifying for the person who suffers but they are not life threatening though it may feel like it.
Clients describe their symptoms in various ways. Here are some that I hear about frequently: feeling sick, feeling dizzy, chest pain, head hurts, shortness of breath, heart thumping, sweating. The reasons for a panic attack is always great anxiety and of course a fear of dying.

Sometimes the reasons for these attacks are known or clients remember when they started and what triggers them often though they seem to come from nowhere. Hypnotherapy can certainly help find out the root causes and release them.

Hypnotherapy is extremely effective when working with anxiety and panic attacks. Rather than just giving suggestions which is what usually happens in a hypnotherapy session we will always aim to release the underlying root causes. Nobody is meant to suffer panic attacks or anxiety, so there should be no need to manage these attacks but simply eliminate them. It is easy to give a client advice on how to breathe, how to avoid triggering substances and of course reminding them that even though it feels bad there is no physical danger. However, this means nothing to somebody who suffers pain and fear and is constantly worried that it may happen again. The best thing to do is to work on the underlying causes and release them. I have done many, many sessions and it is life changing.

Gambling Addiction Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a popular option for people wanting help with their gambling problem. The aim is to address the addiction but especially the underlying problems that are the cause of the addiction. Many people gamble occasionally for fun, such as at the football world champion chips or at a horse racing events. For the majority of people occasional gambling is not a problem.

Anxiety Treatment in Hull

PHOBIAS use HypnotherapyThe majority of clients in Hull and Beverley I see come to me for help with anxiety or even panic attacks. While many of these clients have seen counsellors and been to the doctor they were left feeling the way they did before they sought help. While talking to somebody about your feelings and worries, etc. can be very helpful it isn't always the answer to a deep-seated anxiety problem. In fact it usually isn't. Some fears are so deep and some issues stem from a long time ago that they simply can’t be talked away.

In addition to this many people have no idea why they feel the way they do. In other cases they know exactly when they started feeling anxious but still can’t stop feeling that way.

While working with me in hypnotherapy we will nearly always work on the underlying root causes, no matter whether they are known or not. There are different ways of working with it and I have a very high success rate in terms of releasing and softening anxiety-based issues. Problems that have been there for years often can be shifted in a short space of time under hypnosis.

Clients leave feeling much lighter, better than they've felt for a long time. Anxiety isn't something that should be managed as we don’t have to live with it in the first place. Hypnotherapy can help you to live your life freely and easily.

If you live in Hull, Beverley or East Yorkshire contact me today to book in a session to move forward with me "Sabine Stone".

Hypnosis to Stop Smoking

Tobacco has been around for centuries but it is only been fairly recently known that smoking can be harmful. There is so much evidence that points to the danger of smoking and yet people still find it a habit that is difficult to stop. There are hundreds of reasons why people smoke, for example boredom, peer pressure, problems in life, work, alcohol etc. Smoking can become addictive quite quickly as nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known to man.

For most smokers it takes a little more than sheer willpower to break this habit. Hypnotherapy is a VERY effective way to help stop smoking. Remember, it is never too late to stop smoking and become a non-smoker! Once you stop smoking your body can recover and reverse some of the damaging effects that nicotine and the other toxic chemicals in cigarettes have had on it. Usually, after only a few hours after someone stops smoking their body will already begin a healing process.

stop smoking HypnotherapyThere are many reasons why becoming a non-smoker may be good for you. The chances are that it will increase your life expectancy. Your body will receive more oxygen which means you are going to feel more energetic and more alert. Smokers are often more susceptible to colds. Your immune system will get stronger once you stop smoking. Depending on the number of cigarettes you smoke it is highly likely that you will save a fair amount of money (perhaps several thousands of pounds a year). Not smoking will definitely increase relaxation in your body and you will be able to handle life in a calmer way (do not believe that smoking relaxes you - IT DOES NOT!! It is physically impossible to inject thousands of toxic chemicals into your blood stream and expect your body to relax). For some people it becomes noticeable that their skin and hair condition improves and that complexion looks better.

Hypnotherapy, or to the point "Hypnosis to Stop Smoking", when done well is a great way to stop smoking as it is incredibly effective feels good and will enhance your life. Most people who come to me are able to become smoke-free after only one session. Many of my previous clients have commented on how easy they found it to become a non-smoker after they used hypnosis. So, there’s no need to struggle with trying to give up smoking; simply use hypnotherapy to Stop Smoking and the power of your sub-conscious mind to successfully become smoke-free.

Ornithophobia Fear of Birds

Ornithophobia Fear of BirdsDo you need help with your Fear of Birds?

If you suffer from a fear of birds you might be very uncomfortable around them or even extremely frightened. Some people are frightened of all sorts of birds while for others it is only a certain variety that causes distress. When faced with confronting a bird it may be that you start shaking or are unable to move. It is extremely difficult to avoid birds completely as they are free animals and can appear seemingly out from nowhere. For many people it is the flapping of the wings that causes the anxiety.

People who are frightened of them tend to avoid areas that are likely to be inhabited by birds, such as seagulls at beach resorts or places in town where one would find many pigeons. This obviously means that they find it difficult to leave their home and they can develop agoraphobia as well. Some cases of fear are related to when children were faced with aggressive birds such as seagulls or ducks asking for food. Sometimes it can be the parents that exhibit fear which too can trigger a phobia. Sometimes it is seeing a dead bird that causes the fear or suddenly being faced with a bird that flies in through a window or bashes against a window.

Sabine Stone Beverley HypnosisA fear of our feathered friends "the birds" is not an uncommon fear but when left untreated it could become life-limiting, and as a rule it gets worse as a person gets older. Hypnotherapy and regression therapy are excellent ways of releasing such a phobia, either through working on and neutralising the cause of the fear, or through softening the anxieties associated with birds by using hypnotic relaxation and suggestions. Generally, I use both methods (sometimes combined with EFT and NLP techniques), and I have had a lot of success over the years in terms of freeing people from the life-limiting effects of phobias.

Toilet Anxiety

toilet fearMost Hull and Beverley people don’t admit to feeling anxious but those who suffer from a toilet phobia are unlikely ever to admit this.

They fear humiliation, being laughed at or not being understood. There are a number of fears relating to toilets such as a fear of urinating in public toilets or in the company of others (paruresis). The most common problem occurs when men cannot urinate in the company of others; women too can find it difficult if there are people in the toilet or nearby cubicles.

Other aspects of toilet anxiety include the sufferer having a fear of contamination and also a fear of not being able to find a toilet when needed. This latter element is one of the factors of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), which is also effectively treated using hypnotherapy and regression therapy.

So if you live in Hull, Beverley, Swanland, North Ferriby, Hessle or any other villages in the area please get in touch and lets discuss the hypnosis help I can give you.

Hypnosis Help for Depression

Everyone feels down at some point but depression is different from feeling down. Depression is often defined as being "down" for a prolonged period of time, for more than two weeks and when symptoms begin to interfere with your life. These symptoms of depression vary for different people. People with depression almost always report being down and also having a lack of interest in activities they once enjoyed. Other symptoms include: feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, fatigue, feeling constantly pessimistic, feeling constantly sad, anxious or empty and changes in sleep patterns, aches and pains, loss of appetite, not performing well at work or school, avoiding contact with friends and having problems in your family and home life.
Depression can make you feel lonely and helpless. J.K. Rowling in ‘Harry Potter’ describes it as ‘all the joy, warmth, and happiness feels like it’s being sucked out of the air’. Often people suffering from depression for a long time are left with only the worst experiences of their lives. They seem to freeze on the inside. They are prisoners in their own minds.
Often people cannot even remember ever having been well, they think they have always been this way. They struggle to find enjoyment in things they used to do. There is often not enough energy left to do basic chores.
Depression is difficult, soul-destroying even. It’s an illness affecting the mind. No one wants to become a prisoner of their mind. It can be helped because we are meant to have joyful lives filled with love for everything including ourselves.
The aim of hypnotherapy is to target the root cause of the issue and that way release the problems. Often people depress or forget the cause of depression because of the association with negative feelings. It’s very common to forget an event on a conscious level, but it is impossible to do on a subconscious level. It is always best to get to the root cause and confront the issue, rather than forgetting about it, which can worsen the depression.
Good therapy works with the subconscious mind and that’s exactly what a good hypnotherapist does.
