TEETH GRINDING (BRUXISM)

Bruxism is the clenching or grinding of the teeth, often linked to tension or stress. It commonly happens during sleep or at times of pressure and can lead to jaw pain, headaches, worn teeth, and disturbed sleep. Many people are not aware they are doing it until symptoms develop.

Why teeth grinding can persist

Teeth grinding often persists because it happens automatically, without conscious awareness. For some people, it is linked to ongoing tension that is held in the body, particularly around the jaw, neck, and face. Even when someone feels they are coping, this tension can remain active.

How hypnotherapy works with bruxism

Hypnotherapy works with the automatic response rather than conscious effort alone. By addressing the tension and responses that maintain the habit, clenching and grinding often reduce, or become easier to notice and interrupt. The aim is to change what happens automatically, rather than trying to control it through willpower.
